Sukanya Bhowmik is currently a lecturer and senior researcher at the Distributed Systems Department in the Institute of Parallel and Distributed Systems (IPVS) of the University of Stuttgart.

She received her doctoral degree from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, in
2017. Over the duration of her doctoral studies, her research was primarily in the areas of middleware systems (such as event-based systems), IoT, and computer networks, especially Software-Defined Networking (SDN), with a focus on line-rate
performance, scalability, resource efficiency, and control plane distribution.

As a senior researcher, her research focus includes event-based middleware, complex event processing, geo-distributed cloud and edge computing, distributed
graph processing, approximate computing, and networked and distributed systems.
