Theresa Pollinger, member of our group, was nominated to present for the 9th BGCE student paper prize (cf. https://www.bgce.de/news/bgce-student-paper-prize/).
The paper, entitled “A mass-conserving sparse grid combination technique with biorthogonal hierarchical basis functions for kinetic simulations”, presents a possible approach to make combination technique simulations mass-conserving and stable. This can allow, for example, to simulate reactors for plasma fusion at resolutions that are currently out of scope.
Theresa will also present the paper at a special session of the SIAM conference for computational science and engineering at the end of February in Amsterdam.
