June 30, 2021: Stuvus, the student union of the University of Stuttgart, has awarded the Machine Learning lecture that was held in the first purely digital term in the summer of 2020 with a prize for digital teaching.
Ms. Hövel explained the context and the reason for the given award. 77 lectures and seminars were suggested by students from all over the university. Having shortlisted 10 nominations, Stuvus interviewed students
to determine the final five award winners, which included the Machine Learning lecture.
The team of Analytic Computing just started in the summer term of 2020 and thus gave the machine learning lecture for the first time in an entirely digital format. The machine learning lecture has received the award for its clear structure, for its brief self-assessments that were woven into the lecture, and for its scheme that shared the best student videos of solutions to the weekly assignments (if students agreed to sharing).
Prof. Staab who developed video content and self-assessment quizzes and the tutors Alexandra Baier, Ramin Hedeshy, and Janik Hager, who prepared and handled weekly assignments thanked the students who nominated their lecture and Stuvus for the award.
