Frank Dürr is currently a lecturer and senior researcher at the Distributed Systems Department of the Institute of Parallel and Distributed Systems (IPVS) of the University of Stuttgart. He received his doctoral degree and diploma in computer science both from University of Stuttgart in 2010 and 2001, respectively. From 2005 – 2009, he was technical coordinator of the DFG Collaborative Research Center “SFB 627:  Spatial World Models for Mobile Context-Aware Applications (Nexus)”. In his PhD work, he investigated geographic communication mechanisms (Geocast) and location-based addressing concepts allowing for distributing messages to participants located in geographic areas.

As a senior researcher, he has covered a broad spectrum of research topics from mobile computing and networking, including software-defined and time-sensitive networking (SDN, TSN), location privacy, mobile crowdsensing, mobile code offloading.

As a lecturer, he has given lectures on basic computer science concepts (Bachelor degree lectures) such as system concepts and programming (concurrent programming, operating system basics) and computer networks, as well as on advanced concepts from the field of distributed systems (Master degree lectures) such as mobile computing and peer-to-peer systems.
