Have you ever wondered how your favorite music affects your heart rate or can lower your stress levels? A new research project, VitaBeat, is aiming to find out! Developed as part of a student research project, VitaBeat is an Android app that combines wearable technology with music data to explore the relationship between listening to music and physiological responses.
How It Works
VitaBeat records the music you play through streaming services like Spotify and links it with real-time sensor data from your smartphone and smartwatch. This allows both researchers and users to gain valuable insights into how different types of music influence physiological responses such as heart rate and stress levels.
Current Research Studies
The VitaBeat project is currently expanding through multiple thesis projects and studies, exploring topics such as:
• How music genre preferences affect heart rate
• The impact of short musical breaks on daily stress recovery
• User-centered improvements for smartwatch and Spotify integration
