Research Focus SSE

Our group focusses on challenges at the edge between numerical mathematics and computer science in order to enable large-scale scientific computing applications on massively parallel systems. Particular application fields are plasma physics simulations, multi-scale problems, and high-dimensional problems such as data mining, time series predictions, and uncertainty quantification. Methods used range from clustering, inverse solvers, dimensionality reduction, dynamical grid adaptivity, communication reducing and asynchronous iterative solvers, sparse grids, and dynamical load balancing to reduced order modelling.
